Join us for one of our most jam-packed World’s Most Exciting Classrooms events as we bounce around the world from Canada to Belize to Peru to the Atlantic off the coast of South Africa!
The Oosterschelde has almost finished the crossing of the Atlantic and will soon be in South Africa.
In this week’s episode of the World’s Most Exciting Classroom:
-We’ll have a live uplink from the ship and an update on the sailing so far with Josh and Grant.
-We’ll meet the manatee man, Jamal Galves! Jamal has been passionate about manatee conservation since he was 11 years old, and later jumped at the opportunity to join manatee scientists at Sea to Shore Alliance to assist with manatee captures and health assessments. In recognition of his efforts, Jamal has been named an Oceana Ocean Hero, Belize National Hero (Meritorious Service Award), and World Wildlife Fund Planet Hero.
-We’ll meet the all-female, Gen Z team will be making an incredible attempt at crossing the open seas, with the aim to become the first crew to row 8,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean nonstop and unsupported, from April 2025. They are in Peru and are about to begin the row to Australia! Miriam and Jess will be rowing up to 15 hours a day, the voyage could take around 6 months!
