Description

The “Yes Bot” Trap. Spotting AI Sycophancy and Thinking Critically Online

Have you ever noticed that AI chatbots almost always agree with you? Designed to be ultimate people pleasers, AI tools are programmed to validate our opinions rather than challenge them, a phenomenon known as AI sycophancy. But is a machine that always says yes actually helping us think clearly?

In this interactive session, students will dive into the differences between human relationships and machine responses. Through live polls, video storytelling, and classroom discussions, students will:

  • Uncover AI Sycophancy: Discover why chatbots are trained to tell us what we want to hear instead of what we need to hear.
  • Compare Humans vs Machines: Learn why real friends give helpful pushback while AI just follows text patterns.
  • Build Critical Thinking: Practice spotting AI bias and walk away with actionable tools to evaluate digital information.

Bring your class ready to vote, discuss, and learn how to see past the Yes Bot!
