Rigs to Reefs with Amber Sparks

Description

Rigs to Reefs with Amber Sparks

Rigs to Reefs provides an alternative to complete oil rig removal, modifying old platforms so they can continue to support marine live as an artificial reef. The decommissioned oil platform can be towed, toppled or have the top portion removed. Afterwards, they can be home to over 14,000 fish and many other marine species!

Join Amber, a marine biologist, educator and entrepreneur, to learn more about the benefits of creating these artificial reef ecosystems. She’s the co-president of the Blue Latitudes Foundation, whose mission is to elevate the traditional concept of ocean stewardship by uniting government, industry and the community to work together to conserve our oceans! In doing so, this foundation strives to explore innovative solutions to traditional marine conservation challenges. Amber is a PADI certified rescue diver and Ambassadiver.
