Live from Madagascar with James Herrera and Duke Lemur Center

Description

Live from Madagascar with James Herrera and Duke Lemur Center

In this presentation from Madagascar, James Herrera will share what the Duke Lemur Center is doing about lemur conservation. We’ll hear about lemurs in the rainforests, and the people who are working to save them. To save biodiversity also means working closely with local people to help develop sustainable livelihoods.

James is the Program Coordinator for the Duke Lemur Center SAVA-Conservation program in Madagascar. With a PhD in biological anthropology, James focuses on lemurs, but is also interested in social sciences, disease ecology, and evolution. Research and development projects include surveys and monitoring of endangered lemurs, investigation of socioeconomics, health, and agriculture, as well as training agroecology principles and methods.
