Description

Guardians of the Land: Indigenous Leadership in Conservation

Join Biologist Emma Pascoe, from Environment and Climate Change Canada, as she explores how Canada is working to save our wildlife through the Species at Risk Act! From coast to coast to coast, discover the incredible work being done to protect our furry, feathered, and finned friends. Get ready to be inspired and become a Wildlife Warrior!

Jacqueline Macleod, from the Lax Kw’alaams Nation, is a hands-on advocate for Indigenous-led conservation. As a Program and Relationship Coordinator, she doesn’t just manage funding—she’s in the field, working alongside First Nations Guardians to protect Canada’s land, water, and wildlife. She helps communities access resources, ensures projects stay on track, and witnesses the power of Indigenous knowledge in action. She thrives on the belief that real change happens when people come together with a shared purpose. From restoring marine ecosystems with clam gardens to tracking wildlife for long-term sustainability, Jacqueline champions conservation that’s deeply rooted in culture and community. Her work isn’t just about protecting nature—it’s about empowering First Nations to lead the way for future generations.
