Join National Geographic Explorer Alizé Carrère for a talk about one of our planet’s most controversial – and adorable – creatures: rats! Alizé will share her experience with her own pet rats, “fancy rats” Alfonso and Romeo, and how they inspired her latest film project, an animated short film about rats and their connection to humans. As research for her film, Alizé recently returned from a trip to Tanzania where she visited the headquarters of an NGO called APOPO, where they train African Giant Pouched Rats, otherwise known as HeroRats, to work on landmine detection, Tuberculosis detection, and support the elimination of wildlife trafficking. Prepare to be amazed by the intelligence and hard work of these incredible animals.
