Dr. Elodie Freymann is a primatologist, filmmaker, and conservationist studying how animals use medicine in the wild. Elodie got her start studying wild chimpanzees in the forests of Western Uganda, trying to learn which medicinal plants they use when sick or injured. Her current project, located in the Central Peruvian Amazon, involves trying to discover the first ever case of animal medication in this region of the world. In this lesson, Elodie will teach the class some of the methods she uses when in the field, and what these discoveries could mean both for our own species and our planet at large.
