Moronke Harris is an award-winning deep-sea oceanographer and science communicator who has spent over 150 days at sea collaboratively exploring Earth’s final frontier using submersibles. She is fascinated by innovation, discovery, and the blue economy. Her research focuses on the untapped potential of Earth’s least explored ocean regions, where transformative discoveries could hold the key to advancing society and reversing global decline. As founder of ‘The Imaginative Scientist’, a creative science communication and consulting brand dedicated to bridging science, art, and public engagement, she has delivered dozens of presentations to global audiences, sharing her passion for marine exploration. Driven by a spirit of discovery, Moronke is currently preparing to serve as Submersible Science Team Lead on an all-female Antarctic expedition in 2026, documenting climate-driven changes firsthand. In this talk, she’ll highlight some of her most epic at-sea expeditions and inspire your class to consider a life of learning about the ocean’s farthest reaches!
