Description

Daily Dive #141 | The Complex Hunting Behaviour of Jumping Spiders

Meet Ximena Nelson, she’s a professor in the school of Biological Sciences at Canterbury University in New Zealand. She studies the behaviour of birds and spiders. On a recent expedition in Indonesia, she witnessed hunting behaviour in jumping spiders never documented before.

Dig Deeper: We learned about the importance of eyes for jumping spiders hunting, what are some other adaptations that make them great hunters? Which jumping spider can do the furtherest jump?

EBTSOYP Daily Dives take students on a trip to the frontlines of science, exploration, conservation, and adventure to learn about the newest discoveries, conservation stories, expeditions, and more. Each school day @ 8:00am eastern, we release a new 5-7 minute video along with a 5 minute minds on activity for students.
