Description

Daily Dive # 132 | How Honey is Saving the Real Paddington Bear

Meet Ximena Vélez Liendo, she’s the coordinator of the Andean Carnivore Conservation Program in Bolivia. Along with her team, she’s working to protect the Andean bear, preserve their habitat and make sure the community around the bears are healthy with stable incomes.

Dig Deeper: why are Andean bears also called spectacled bears? What are the favourite foods of the Andean Bear? Farmers worry they will go after their livestock, but how much of their diet is actually made up of meat?

EBTSOYP Daily Dives take students on a trip to the frontlines of science, exploration, conservation, and adventure to learn about the newest discoveries, conservation stories, expeditions, and more. Each school day @ 8:00am eastern, we release a new 5-7 minute video along with a 5 minute minds on activity for students.
