Meet Marla Schwarzfeld, she’s a researcher with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Marla looks at the diversity and taxonomy of mites in the soil as well as biodiversity of soil in general.

Dig Deeper: the biodiversity of life beneath our feet is staggering! It is often broken up into 5 groups: mircoorganisms, microfauna, mesofauna, macrofauna and megafauna. Can you define each group and find an example organism for each?
