Helping People and Wildlife Coexist with Austin Green

Wildlife are under continuous pressure to adapt to novel environments, especially as more land is converted for human use. One way in which mammals may occupy these increasingly human-dominated landscapes is to alter their behavior. In fact, mammals have been doing this ever since human beings evolved on Earth, and we’re only just now beginning to realize how adaptable these species truly are! In this talk, we’ll investigate the importance of behavior in regards to wildlife conservation. We’ll focus on how large-scale, commercially available technology and easy-to-implement methodology can be leveraged to gather massive datasets that better allow scientists to understand the impact of the human footprint on wildlife. In the end, we’ll highlight how work here in Utah is paving the way for human-wildlife coexistence across the globe.
