Description

Daily Dive # 069 | Reintroducing Howler Monkeys to Tijuca National Park: Part Three

This Daily Dive is a short series exploring the reintroduction of wildlife to Tijuca National Park, particularly howler monkeys. All of the footage is live from the park, which was reforested to help provide clean water for the millions of people who live in Rio de Janeiro. It was called the empty forest as so much native wildlife was gone. Refauna is in the midst of an incredible conservation project, putting the puzzle pieces of an ecosystem back together and reintroducing the native wildlife to the park.

Dig Deeper: What does it mean if a species is an ecosystem engineer? We know the yellow-footed tortoise is an example. Can you find another and share how it impacts ecosystems?
